However uneducated individuals are to a great extent legitimately bound since they have what they see and gain from their folks and what they encountered throughout everyday life and the occasionally its disturbed most is that they treat their children with a similar viewpoint. Be that as it may. taught individuals need their children to go a long ways past them. They need them to show improvement over what they did. since they realize that each twenty-four hours and each second of our lives a few things modification and create and a few things are found and developed. Add the goals or rather learnings that youâd like your students to achieve to the objectives section. Itâs important to be as detailed and precise as possible. Make sure that your objectives are measurable as Tracy Smith aptly points out on the Arizona State University blog: âEffective learning objectives use action verbs to describe what you want your students to be able to do by the end of the course or unit. Aligning assessments with course expectations is much easier when you have written measurable objectives from the beginning.â Action verbs include words such as âunderstandâ, âdescribeâ, âanalyseâ, and âcritically evaluateâ. Including these in your objectives will give you the framework required to assess your students. Resources Required resources is pretty self-explanatory. Guided Practice Gauge how much of the material your class understood by making them apply their conceptual knowledge through guided practice. âIn the Guided Practice section of your written lesson plan, you will outline how your students will demonstrate that they have grasped the skills, concepts, and modeling that you presented to them in the Direct Instruction portion of the lesson. This is where you let them work independently while they are still in the classroom, providing a supportive learning environment where you can empower them to work on their own, but still offer support.â â" Beth Lewis An example of guided practice would be dividing your class up into groups, and asking them to come up with a few concrete examples of how the content of the lesson could be applied in real life. This could be followed by mini-presentations where students share their findings with the class. Even though educators are often faced with time constraints, there are so many advantages to setting aside time for guided practice, as Meredith Tumilty from The Teaching Toolbox states: âIn terms of benefits, guided instructional practices are very student-centered and foster an active learning environment. Often times, guided instruction strategies are grounded in learning experiences that are authentic and have real-world applications. This, in turn, facilitates higher-order thinking skills is engaging for students. They often have a social component, which allows students opportunities to engage with their classmates, exchange ideas, and learn how to work together towards a common goal. Another advantage of guided instruction is that it gives students ownership over their education.â Independent Practice Next up is independent practice, the part of the lesson where students take what youâve taught them and use that newly acquired knowledge to complete a task on their own. Itâs also known as the âhomeworkâ part of the lesson. The important thing to remember here, is that students need to be able to realistically complete the assignment with minimal help or mistakes after the lesson. Evaluation and Analysis But the lesson doesnât end after your students complete their homework assignments. Assess the success of your lesson in the evaluation section. This could take the form of an essay or a written test or a term project. If you assigned an essay to your students as homework, use the evaluation section to note down their results. And finally, itâs important to see whether youâve achieved your learning objectives or not. Assess the outcome of your lesson through the analysis of essay grades, homework assignments, and/or test scores. Have all your students passed? Have they all grasped the concepts you taught? Understanding and, more importantly, measuring your success is essential. Itâs a way for you to get a better understanding of the level your students are at. Use the analysis section in your mind map to outline your next steps. Does it involve delving deeper into a topic? Do parts of the lesson need to be repeated? Often people are put to cruel punishments for mistakes or sins they had committed. The actions they take to ââ¬Å"punishâ⬠a person are extreme. The Puritans act and seem so committed to their religion. The people seem ââ¬Å"Holyâ⬠but you never really know what happens behind closed doors. The statement was in plain sight and yet the people did not grasp the outcry of their shameful pastor. A corrupt preacher will lead to a corrupt church and that is what he did because he let th em mistreat Hester and did not preach against the cruelty they had towards her. The puritans were so oblivious to reality that they were against the innocent and were for the sinners and this deeply applies to The Crucible, seeing as though they killed many innocent people because one girl lied. As for the puritans, they really could not cope with the evidence of their senses because they were metaphorically ââ¬Å"blindâ⬠. There was sin all around them and some of them that were trapped inside the sin, yet they could not face reality and realize that they were not as perfect as they once thought. The members of the Puritan church were so grounded in their religion the thoughts, rules, and decisions should have been unlawful and this and many other reasons cause them to be a corrupt society. The crucible and The Scarlet Letter are the perfect example to stand by the statement of the Puritans being corrupt. Human Genetic Engineering Essay - 1521 Words
Introduction What if you could design your child before it was even born? What if you could cut out any life threatening diseases, make sure that your child is not susceptible to smoking addictions or alcoholism, and then make your child genius? Would you? Are you asking yourself how this could be done? Have you ever considered human genetic engineering? What is Human Genetic Engineering? Lets start by looking at the cell and the source of heritable traits. We know that all organisms are made up by cells and that new cells can only spring from existing cells. Cell growth depends upon the production of new cells and within each cell exists DNA. DNA contains the hereditary instructions need for each organism to grow and develop. Everyâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Based on those findings, Wilson performed an experiment on a person suffering from hypercholesterolemia (FH). This certain disease forbids the liver from processing cholesterol. The procedure consisted of taking a piece of the persons liver and injecting correct copies of the genes into the flawed liver cells, and placing the piece of liver back into the person. Two years later, the results showed that the corrected cells were thriving. As a result to the cells, the person had reduced their cholesterol by twenty percent. Cystic Fibrosis (CF), is another disease that is taking to genetic therapy. If a corrected gene could somehow enter the cells that line the lungs, it will then start producing the critical proteins that CF patients need. This has been done, although in small quantities. These results, however, have raised hopes that sometime in the future, CF may be curable. The parade of genetically engineered marvels, during the past recent years, has been shocking: ââ¬Å"Flavr-Savrâ⬠tomatoes that stay fresher longer; ââ¬Å"giant salmonâ⬠that grow 37 times faster than the normal fish; ââ¬Å"transgenicâ⬠pigs that are injected with human genes which causes them to produce milk with human protein that prevents blood clotting; and ââ¬Å"supermiceâ⬠injected with rat growth genes which makes them grow twice their normal size, are just a few. They have worked through, to become one of the 100 best companies in USA by focussing on health, hygiene and well being of the consumer introducing popular brands like Kleenex, Scott, huggies, pull ups and kotex(Kimberly clark , 2003). Global Expansion In order to incorporate the Global Expansion Strategy, Kimberly Clark decided to have a merger with Europes leading brand company Scott Corporation. This merger had a positive impact on Kimberly Clark as it lead the company to increase its market share in the consumer market, as well as it gave the company a great product mix ProQuest Information and Learning Company, 1995). This merger allowed expense reduction, along with operational synergies in the company and brought high end products as well as low end alternatives eliminating mid range segment. It strengthened Kimberly Clark Corporations position in the European market, by holding almost 58% of the Market share in Europe (Collins, 1995). Organisation Environments External Environment Political and Legal The merger between Kimberly Clark and Scott became a major legal and political issue in the market as Kimberly Clark had a control of 58% of the market share. This merged as a domestic antitrust problem in the consumer mind in Europe (Collins, 1995). The direct target competition among them was bringing the consumers a lower price and also benefits from frequent promotions, couponing and other marketing strategies (United States District Court Northern District of Texas Dallas Division, 1995). Due to the reasons mentioned above, there was increased political pressure on Kimberly Clark which lead them to sell SCA (Kleenex plant in Britan). This plant used to help thier tissue brand Kleenex to be more improved and advanced. Later, SCA began competing with Kimberly Clark leading to a fall in the hare of Kimberly Clark by about 3% and gain in the share of SCA by 6% (Forest Dawley, 1998). Economical The merger between Scott and Kimberly Clark brought Kimberly Clark a major restructuring cost falling in between $675 million and $775 million. This cost pressurized Kimberly Clark to shut down 20 plants and also reduce their work-force by 10%, keeping the organisation cost down( Decision News Media SAS, 2005). During this period, the price of all their products fell by 2 percent. This cost difference ultimately started reflecting on the price of the products for the customers in US and Europe. As a result, the company faced a 17 percent fall in fourth quarter of their net income (Pitman, 2006). It was a result of Kimberly Clarks poor planning and prediction about the positive outcomes in global growth and operational synergies, neglecting high cost involvement. Further increases in operating cost lead to repetitive restructuring of the organisation to achieve efficient cost structure (Forest Dawley, 1998). Technological The merger between Kimberly Clark and Scott strengthened the distribution channel for both the companies and their operating margins. It helped Kimberly Clark to put side the expenditure on building up an International business as well as they could increase the manufacturing efficiency of the company.
